Women supporting women has transformed birth, lactation, and end-of-life care. We call them Doulas. Where is the help for the largest transition of a woman’s life we call menopause?

Dr. Fiona Lovely

So why are midlife women left to navigate the desert alone?

Right now, over 1.2 billion women worldwide are in the menopause transition. Most are met with brushed-off concerns, outdated advice, or silence.

I’m Dr. Fiona Lovely. Through more than two decades in clinical practice and hosting the Not Your Mother’s Menopause podcast, this has been my life’s work: proving to women that we aren’t broken—we are transforming.

Medicine alone isn’t solving this gap. Women don’t just need a 10-minute clinic visit; they need continuous, informed, and compassionate advocacy. They need guides who understand the science, the emotional terrain, and the daily reality of hormonal flux.

That’s why I created the Menopause Doula Certification—and why more Certified Menopause Doulas™ are desperately needed.

You don’t need an MD, RN, or therapy license to hold this space.

Birth doulas don’t deliver babies; they protect the mother’s experience. A Menopause Doula does the same for midlife. You do not diagnose or prescribe. Instead, you provide the education, emotional grounding, symptom mapping, and advocacy that clinical medicine simply doesn’t have the time or bedside manner to offer. Your lived wisdom, empathy, and readiness to learn are your greatest credentials.

I knew almost instantly after you announced this certification program that I wanted to enroll. My only insecurity was that I would not be able to fully integrate all the new information… I remember that you were clear to possible enrollees that no prior knowledge is necessary… Educating women on this is so needed.

04

Provides Emotional Grounding

Offers steady, non-judgmental presence when brain fog, anxiety, identity shifts, or grief feel overwhelming.

The training was therapeutic from beginning to end. Connecting with a cohort of peers made me feel less alone, less broken. Doing so made me see this as a calling to advocate for other women so they can avoid the hurdles I endured, and to nurture my passion for caring for others deeply and unapologetically.
